About the Workshop

This educational workshop is based on decades of data and research regarding relationship satisfaction, as presented in the groundbreaking, best selling book – The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman.

The workshop is designed to help couples improve their friendship, romance, and conflict management skills.

This class combines teaching and demonstrations, with one-on-one work sessions, where you and your partner would focus on your relationship with each other. 

Confidentiality is strictly maintained, so you won’t need to disclose any personal information during the workshop.

This workshop is inappropriate for couples facing:
 
Severe relationship distress
Significant emotional or physical abuse
Severe mental health problems
Relationships where one or both partners are addicted to drugs, alcohol, or other compulsive behavior.
 
You should instead seek couples therapy or the 3 day intensive couples weekend workshop.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE COUPLES WORKSHOP:
 
• The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Book
• The Seven Principles Companion Workbook allows you to privately record answers and journal thoughtfully about the concepts in the book, as they apply to your relationship. It takes users step-by-step through the interactive exercises in each chapter of The Seven Principles Book.
• “Love Map/Open Ended Questions” card deck. This deck is fun and effective way for couples to get to know one another’s inner lives, thus increasing closeness and friendship.
• Engaging presentation and the opportunity for many exercises and conversations with your partner (if you go together).
• Christie will be available to give you personal support and guidance as needed.
• For on-site workshops, refreshments (coffee/tea) and light snacks will be provided. Please feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks as well. Lunch will be on your own, with many restaurants nearby.

FAQs
Do I have to talk in this class?
Absolutely not! Although the facilitator will ask questions of the audience, and will encourage active participation, this is entirely up to you! If you just want to sit back, learn, and participate in the private exercises with your partner, you are welcome to do so.
What is the cancellation policy?
Your registration fee is non-refundable, but transferable. Once registered, if unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending the 7 Principles Program workshop, you will have the opportunity to register for a different workshop within 12 months of the registration date instead. However, if you cancel within 72 hours or fail to show up for the workshop, there will be a $75 transfer fee applied. All workshops are enrolled on a first come, first serve basis.

Who is Christie Onumejor?
The presenter, Christie Onumejor is a relationship and Marriage counsellor, trained in the Gottman Method Couple therapy, and she is also a Gottman Seven Principles program Leader/Educator, and currently provides Gottman Method Couples counselling for couples from diverse backgrounds in her private counselling practice @ Chapters Counselling Services. Christie is also trained in the PREPARE-ENRICH model of premarital counselling. She provides psychotherapy services to people struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and life transition issues. Christie’s professional affiliations include the College of Registered psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapists Association (CCPA).
